Apple Releases iOS 18, iPadOS 18: Everything You Should Know

Apple has officially released iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, debuting a few of the most expected features from users. Among those updates that Monday, September 18, saw the release of the new operating systems are a more customizable Home Screen, overhauled Control Center, and fully redesigned Photos app, among other new capabilities. iOS 18 will also hit store shelves this Friday, September 20, with iPhone 16 models.

Compatibility and Device Support

iOS 18 is pretty well compatible with the same models that supported iOS 17. However, the case of iPadOS 18 is different. The update will not support devices using the A10X Fusion chip. In this respect, therefore, the following iPad models will only be qualified for this upgrade: iPad Pro (2018 and later), iPad Air (2019 and later), iPad mini (2019 and later), and iPad (2020 and later). Although there are numerous new features in iOS 18, it is worth considering that in such hardware constraints, not all devices will be able to benefit from those updates. Newer model users will experience further refined and feature-inclusive experiences.

Pre-Installation Recommendations

Before you start installing the gadget, some pre-installation recommendations should first be taken into consideration. First, create room on your device to allow the updating to take place without hitches. Secondly, you should create an archived backup of your gadget in case anything goes wrong during installation. Even with the excitement for a new operating system, many users often wait for a couple of days before updating. This is often out of concern for increased battery drain or bugs among other glitches. Other persons would rather observe how the new OS works on their friends’ devices before they can consider doing so themselves. However, with Apple’s continuous efforts to improve user experience, iOS 18 is going to be a huge upgrade.
