Apple has rolled out new beta updates across all devices, a continuous effort by the company to refine and enhance its ecosystem. The latest releases bring along iOS 18 Developer Beta 6, iOS 18 Public Beta 4, and iOS 18.1 Beta 2 in addition to macOS Sequoia 15.1 Beta 2 for developers. Noticeably, iOS 18.1 Beta 2, specific to the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, comes in at 1.4GB in size, a little larger than the 1GB iOS 18 Developer Beta 6. That said, these changes do show Apple working on smooth performance and pre-existing issue resolution.
Additional Updates for Other Devices
Besides iPhones, Apple has also pushed beta updates to other devices to make the strategy of software enhancing wholesale. For instance, updates have gone to watchOS 11 Beta 6, visionOS 2 Beta 6, and iPadOS 18 Beta 6. On the other hand, iPadOS 18.1 Beta 2 specifically reaches iPads running an M1 chip and above, underlining Apple’s plan of fine-tuning software for higher hardware. Yet, despite these targeted updates, Apple has made it very clear that bug fixes and performance improvements are the main focuses.
Minor Changes and New Features Introduced
Despite the focus on maintenance, Apple did bring in a few minor changes that might interest the users. For example, in iOS 18 Developer Beta 6, it is now possible to control Bluetooth separately from Wi-Fi and mobile data from within the Control Center. This option has the added benefit of being able to be dragged and dropped around the interface to provide additional personalization. Meanwhile, iOS 18.1 Beta 2 includes a new “Rate Your Experiences” section within the Feedback app. This will encourage users to rate their interactions with Apple Intelligence and AI-generated content and help them boost their tester ratings by providing feedback. Theoretically, one could get the advance of most active contributors to test new features before they roll out to the public.
