Apple’s anticipated launch of the iPhone 15 series might face delays, pushing the debut of the company’s next-generation smartphones beyond the usual September timeframe, according to Wamsi Mohan, a global securities analyst at Bank of America.
While there are possibilities that the iPhone 15 lineup’s unveiling event may follow Apple’s regular schedule, shipments could be pushed to October. Such a scenario could potentially impact the sales of the iPhone 15, especially in the September quarter.
As reported by MacRumors, Apple announced the iPhone 14 series on September 7th last year. The iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, and Pro Max were subsequently released for sale on September 16th. Still, the iPhone 14 Plus did not hit the market until October 7th, allegedly due to production disruptions caused by Chinese manufacturing plant blockades.
A similar incident occurred in 2020 when the iPhone 12 launch was delayed by several weeks due to supply constraints resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Potential Supply Shortage
Furthermore, another report has revealed that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max may encounter a supply shortage due to issues in the production of their screens. It is presumed that Apple’s screen suppliers adopt a different manufacturing process to achieve thinner bezels. It is worth noting that the iPhone 15 Pro models are expected to feature record-thin bezels and may come with larger screens (6.2 inches for 15 Pro and 6.8 inches for 15 Pro Max).
However, LG is facing difficulties with the new process, and the screens are not passing reliability tests. While Apple’s plans are yet to be officially confirmed, if these details hold true, we might encounter limitations in the availability of the new iPhone 15 after its launch. The combination of potential launch delays and supply shortages may impact the initial supply of the highly anticipated smartphone.
What to Expect
The launch of the iPhone 15 series by Apple is currently under scrutiny, as reports indicate possible delays in both the unveiling event and product shipments. The company’s commitment to providing innovative devices has led to ambitious designs, including record-thin bezels and larger screens for the iPhone 15 Pro models. However, the unique manufacturing challenges may lead to supply constraints, potentially impacting the device’s availability upon release. As Apple navigates these potential hurdles, consumers eagerly await official announcements regarding the iPhone 15 launch date and supply status.
