You have many options including from the official Apple Store, purchasing online through retailers such as Amazon, purchasing from a private party or you can buy iPhone through a wireless service carrier.

Purchasing an iPhone from one of the many official Apple Store locations scattered around the country is a good option if you’re unsure of what model to purchase. The staff at the Apple Stores are extremely knowledgeable about the products and they will sit down with you to discuss your options. While the iPhone 5 is the newest and most expensive, previous iPhone versions can be purchased for a much lower price.

Online Retailers

Purchasing online allows for a much greater selection and easier shopping, and lower prices. However, you will not have much customer service to answer any questions about the phones. Purchasing online requires a lot of prior research into each model you’re considering. Also be sure to read real and valid customer reviews about the phone model you’re considering purchasing. You can opt to purchase a used iPhone through a private party. You can locate phones for sale by using Craigslist and similar websites such as eBay. Purchasing any type of iPhone through a private party carries some form of risk as you have no prior record of the phone and you won’t know if the phone has sustained any obvious internal or external damage. Used phones can be purchased for a fraction of the price of a new phone, but your results may vary.

Wireless Carrier

Since the iPhone 5 is compatible with all four major United States carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and Sprint) the iPhone 5 and some previous models can be purchased directly from wireless carrier retail outlets. Many people purchase the phone and bundle it when a service contract to save hundreds of dollars on the price of the phone. The customer service here should have good knowledge about each phone, so it’s safe to make purchases at wireless carrier retail outlets.
